Valor Christian is 5-0 against ThunderRidge since October of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Valor Christian Eagles will look to defend their home field against the ThunderRidge Grizzlies at 7:00 p.m. Valor Christian will be looking to keep their seven-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
Last Friday, Valor Christian faced Rock Canyon in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Valor Christian walked away with a 30-20 victory over Rock Canyon.
Valor Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Blake Kirschke led the charge by rushing for 38 yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Cash Spence, who threw for 66 yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes.
Meanwhile, after only seven points in their last contest, ThunderRidge made sure to put some points up on the board against Highlands Ranch on Friday. ThunderRidge breezed by Highlands Ranch on the road to the tune of 38-8. The result was nothing new for ThunderRidge, who have now won three contests by 30 points or more so far this season.
Evan Olds was the offensive standout of the game as he rushed for 116 yards and three touchdowns.
ThunderRidge's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB 5.5 times. The heavy lifting was done by Nick Besser and sloan schilling who racked up four sacks between them.
Their wins lifted both teams to an identical 4-4.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's game: Valor Christian has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 168.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like ThunderRidge struggles in that department as they've been even better at 186.8 per game. It's looking like Friday's contest might have some serious battles in the trenches.
