Zanesville is 0-8 against Granville since April of 2021 but things could change on Monday. The Blue Devils will host the Blue Aces at 5:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
Zanesville is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Madison Comprehensive 12-4 on Saturday. The Blue Devils not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since May 4, 2024 (when they won 16-2).
Logan Goldsmith and Mahki Murray were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Goldsmith pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Murray tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Zanesville is 3-1-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 3-5 otherwise. At the plate, Goldsmith went 2-for-3 with three RBI, while Murray got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs. That's the most runs Murray has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tyson Kimble, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Canon Mercer, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
Zanesville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .538. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Granville came tearing into Wednesday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.4 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Vikings as they made off with an 11-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Blue Aces, who have now won four contests by nine runs or more so far this season.
Granville's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Zanesville, the victory got them back to even at 6-6-1.
Zanesville might still be hurting after the 11-5 loss they got from Granville in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Blue Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
