The Burrell Bucs entered their tilt with the Jeannette Jayhawks with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Burrell came out on top against Jeannette by a score of 62-49 on Saturday. Given Burrell's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 57th, while Jeannette is ranked 217th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jeannette's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Markus McGowan, who scored 14 points. Another player making a difference was Noah Sunder, who scored 12 points.
Burrell's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Jeannette, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.
Burrell will be playing at home against St. Joseph at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Joseph is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Jeannette, they will head out on the road to face off against Steel Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
