The Chavez Eagles lost against the Verdugo Hills Dons back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Chavez received a tough blow as they fell 62-44 to the Dons. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Chavez in their matchups with the Dons: they've now lost eight in a row.
Gianmarco Figueroa continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Verdugo Hills, almost dropping a double-double on 26 points and nine rebounds. Figueroa has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Garik Yepremyan, who scored nine points along with eight assists and four steals.
Chavez's loss was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-16. As for Verdugo Hills, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-11 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chavez will stay at home for another game and welcome the Pythons at 4:30 p.m. on February 1st. Verdugo Hills will take on the Huskies at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. North Hollywood will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 855th, while the Dons are ranked 414th).
