Palmetto has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Riverview Sarasota Rams at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Palmetto will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 217th, while Riverview Sarasota is ranked 66th).
Last Friday, everything came up roses for Palmetto at home against Ida Baker as the team secured a 42-7 victory.
Palmetto got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jamari Parker out in front who rushed for 50 yards and a touchdown. Parker was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 50 yards. Dylan Wester also deserves a mention for his punt return touchdown.
Meanwhile, Riverview Sarasota put the finishing touches on their fourth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They breezed by Charlotte at home to the tune of 54-6. With Riverview Sarasota ahead 40-0 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
It was another big night for Dj Johnson, who rushed for 168 yards and four touchdowns on only nine carries. Isaiah Belt was another major influence, as he rushed for 50 yards and ran in a TD.
Palmetto now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Riverview Sarasota, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-4.
Palmetto came up short against Riverview Sarasota in their previous meeting back in September, falling 52-42. Can Palmetto avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
