Rockledge extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping them down to 1-9. They came up short against the Space Coast Vipers, falling 15-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vipers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-4 two weeks ago.
Rockledge saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Taylor Holtz, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI. Colbie Trosset also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
As for Space Coast, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-3. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games.
On Space Coast's side, Kodibeth Bates and Tina Mackenzie made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Bates didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Mackenzie pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Bates went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double, while Mackenzie went 2-for-5 with four runs, one stolen base, and one double.
In other batting news, Toni Torquato was incredible, going 4-for-5 with three runs and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Kami Dacko, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Coming up, Rockledge will take on Merritt Island at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Space Coast, they will be playing in front of their home fans against St. Cloud at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
