Softball Recap: Conneaut Wins Going Away Against Lakeside

Conneaut won the last time they faced Lakeside and things went their way on Monday too. The Spartans blew past the Dragons 14-5. With that win, the Spartans brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.

Chloe Boyle spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on seven hits.

At the plate, Conneaut let Ella Boroski and Ashlyn Sherman run wild. Boroski got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Sherman went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Boroski also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Maddy Drew was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

The victory made it two in a row for Conneaut and bumps their season record up to 2-3. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.5 runs over those games. As for Lakeside, they dropped their record down to 1-9 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.

Conneaut has already played their next game, a 10-7 loss against Grand Valley on the 22nd. As for Lakeside, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, an 11-1 defeat against Pymatuning Valley on the 22nd.
