Given South Fork's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 58th, while John Carroll Catholic is ranked 399th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Loghan Downie continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 24 points along with six rebounds and three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of South Fork's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Chang, who scored six points along with five assists and three steals.
South Fork has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season. As for John Carroll Catholic, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Fork will take on Central at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for John Carroll Catholic, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against King's Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th. One thing working in King's Academy's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three games.
