Basketball Recap: Palmetto Ridge Piles Up the Points Against Golden Gate

There's no place like home for Palmetto Ridge, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They claimed a resounding 68-39 victory over the Golden Gate Titans. The match was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Bears had established a 26 point advantage.

Palmetto Ridge got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Melody Charlton out in front who posted 27 points in addition to six boards and four steals. Charlton has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Hanna Valdes, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine boards.

Golden Gate's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aisha Petithomme, who put up 12 points. Those 12 points gave Petithomme a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Wiseland Desrosiers, who had ten points.

Palmetto Ridge's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-3. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.2 points per game. As for Golden Gate, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Palmetto Ridge didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 68-9 win against Immokalee on the 5th. As for Golden Gate, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 54-18 defeat against Gulf Coast on the 5th.
