The Brimley Bays will take on the Pickford Panthers at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Brimley turned things around against Alanson on Thursday. They never let the Vikings get on the board and left with a 15-0 win.

Scott Bowen made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Brimley is 2-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 1-8 otherwise. Bowen was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. That stolen base marked the first that he has snagged this season.
In other pitching news, Darren Johnson looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Trey Lynn, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, six stolen bases, and three runs. Brimley is 2-1 when Lynn posts two or more runs, but 1-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Micah Morrison, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
Brimley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .667. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Pickford put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their undefeated season alive. They put the hurt on Newberry with a sharp 15-0 victory. 15 seems to be a good number for the Panthers as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Carter Rye made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run.
In other batting news, Gunner Bennin was incredible, firing off two home runs and six RBI while going 2-for-3. Those two home runs gave him a new career-high. Eli MacDonald was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs.
Pickford's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-0-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Brimley, their victory bumped their record up to 3-9.
Brimley might still be hurting after the 16-4 loss they got from Pickford in their previous matchup last Monday. Can the Bays avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
