Even though the Godby Cougars scored an imposing 58 points on Friday, the Rickards Raiders still came out on top. Rickards walked away with a 66-58 victory over Godby. The victory was nothing new for Rickards as they're now sitting on three straight.
Rickards was led to victory by Benjamin Plummer and Romie Cosby. Plummer scored 16 points, while Cosby scored 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Randall Pompey, who scored ten points.
Mekhi Butler and Jaden Staten certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Butler scored 15 points, while Staten scored 12 points. Another player making a difference was Damien Shepherd, who scored eight points.
Rickards' victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-5. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.0 points per game. As for Godby, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-8 record this season.
Rickards won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Milton at 6:00 p.m. on January 20th. Milton is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games. As for Godby, they will head out on the road to face off against Rutherford at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
