It was a good run, but The Draughn Wildcats unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Friday. They were beaten by Mountain Heritage 52-15. Draughn was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-0.
Despite the loss, Draughn still got an impressive performance from Nigel Dula, who rushed for 81 yards and two touchdowns. Dula is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last six games he's played.
It was another big night for Brandon Quinn, who rushed for 286 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 15.1 yards per carry, and also threw for 24 yards and a touchdown on only two passes. Quinn was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 55 yards. Lane Chandler was another major influence, as he rushed for 112 yards and ran in a TD.
Draughn's loss dropped their record down to 8-2. As for Mountain Heritage, their win was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Draughn will take on Corvian Community at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Mountain Heritage, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Carver at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Carver will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 329th, while Mountain Heritage is ranked 125th).
