The Del Oro Golden Eagles will square off against the St. Francis Troubadours at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Del Oro's favor as the squad sits on seven straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while St. Francis has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
Del Oro made up a huge gap compared to their last game against East Nicolaus, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Del Oro's pitchers stepped up to hand East Nicolaus a 13-0 shutout on Monday. The Golden Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by 11 runs or more this season.
Ava Messina looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Del Oro got a massive performance out of Caelyn Campos, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one triple. Those two stolen bases gave Campos a new career-high. Emma Johnson was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Del Oro always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as East Nicolaus only posted an OBP of .167.
Meanwhile, St. Francis came up short against Whitney on Wednesday and fell 5-1.
St. Francis saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kylee Garrett, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Del Oro's victory bumped their record up to 12-1. As for St. Francis, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.
St. Francis' hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. Del Oro has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.5 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for St. Francis, though, as they've been averaging only 1.8 strikeouts. Will Del Oro keep running through batters, or will St. Francis buck the trend?
Del Oro couldn't quite get it done against St. Francis when the teams last played back in March of 2024 as they fell 8-5. Can Del Oro avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
