Tucker Evans and Christopher Bobbitt made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Evans didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Bobbitt pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Richland is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-8 otherwise. At the plate, Evans scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Bobbitt scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Evans a new career-high in RBI (three).
In other batting news, Bryce Shows was a standout: he scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Richland's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-8 when he doesn't). Mikkah Davis was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
Richland was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Raymond only posted a batting average of .125.
Meanwhile, McComb was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against Lawrence County, falling 20-1.
Richland's victory bumped their record up to 5-8. As for McComb, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Richland has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like McComb struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 5.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Richland was able to grind out a solid win over McComb when the teams last played last Tuesday, winning 11-6. Will Richland repeat their success, or does McComb has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
