North Buncombe is 8-2 against Erwin since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Black Hawks are taking a road trip to challenge the Warriors at 6:00 p.m. North Buncombe's pitching crew has only allowed 1.8 runs per game this season, so Erwin's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Enka hit North Buncombe with a four-run first inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Black Hawks fell 7-3 to the Jets. The defeat continues a trend for the Black Hawks in their meetings with the Jets: they've now lost three in a row.
Sadie Jo Hunter spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered seven runs (all of which were unearned) on eight hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Erwin). They were the clear victors by a 17-1 margin over Asheville on Friday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Warriors with their most commanding win of the season.
Callie Shelton made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Shelton was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that she has brought in this season.
In other batting news, Camdin Shelton was a standout: she went 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Taegan Payne was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBI.
Erwin always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2025.
Erwin has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. Having lost for the first time this season, North Buncombe fell to 7-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. North Buncombe has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 12.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Erwin struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
