After flying high against the Onondaga Tigers on Monday, the Cortland Purple Tigers came back down to earth. Cortland was dealt a 76-39 defeat at the hands of Westhill on Thursday. Cortland was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-19.
Despite the loss, Cortland still got an impressive performance from Jaxson Gambitta, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds. Owen Michales was another key contributor, scoring five points.
Cortland's defeat was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-9. As for Westhill, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cortland will take on Mexico at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Westhill, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Chittenango at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
