Volleyball Game Preview: Homestead Spartans vs. Bellmont Braves

The Homestead Spartans will face off against the Bellmont Braves at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Homestead saw some tournament action on Saturday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Southwood. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

Homestead may have fallen short, but they were sure consistent: they scored 20 points in every single set they played. The final score came out to 25-20, 25-20.

Meanwhile, Bellmont had already won three in a row and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Eagles.

While Bellmont won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-8, 25-23, 25-18.

Bellmont's win came from a few key players Homestead will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Gracie Riggs, who had four digs and two aces. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Ross, who had 12 digs and two assists.

Bellmont was lethal from the service line and finished the match with ten aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least eight aces in four consecutive contests.

Bellmont's win bumped their record up to 17-12. As for Homestead, their defeat dropped their record down to 20-10.

Homestead took their victory against Bellmont in their previous meeting back in September by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
