The Shorecrest Scots will challenge the Redmond Mustangs at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
As a matter of fact, Shorecrest put up the most runs they have all season on Thursday. Everything went their way against Ingraham as they made off with a 27-10 victory. The result was nothing new for the Scots, who have now won five matchups by nine runs or more so far this season.
Lili Olson was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Olson was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four RBI and two runs. Those RBI marked the first that she has brought in this season.
In other batting news, Ruby Smevik was a standout: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, four RBI, and one triple. Riu Hanrahan was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.
Shorecrest always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .841. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Redmond strolled into their game on Thursday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They came out on top against Newport - Bellevue by a score of 10-5.
Like Shorecrest, Redmond also got a great game from a two-way player: Addy Ruess. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Ruess has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2025.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maggie Enich, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Livy Ruess, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Redmond's win bumped their record up to 8-0. As for Shorecrest, their victory bumped their record up to 7-2.
Shorecrest's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's contest. The Scots have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Redmond, though, as they've been averaging only 1.4 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Shorecrest continue to outrun the ball?
