The Wilson Mustangs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight defeat. Their tough 55-33 defeat to Southland might stick with them for a while. Wilson has not had much luck with Southland recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Wilson's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Calvin Sims, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds. That was a full 45.5% of Wilson's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Ayden Valdez, who scored two points along with four steals.
Wilson has not been sharp recently as the team has lost nine of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-15 record this season. As for Southland, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-11.
Wilson will take on Lorenzo at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Lorenzo will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something Wilson surely won't give up without a fight. As for Southland, they will head out on the road to take on Crosbyton at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
