If The Bexley Lions were riding high off their 41-0 takedown of the Worthington Christian Warriors last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Bexley ended up on the wrong side of a rough 53-27 walloping at the hands of Granville on Friday. Bexley was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-14.
Bexley's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Jackson Frey, who rushed for 58 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 208 yards and a touchdown. Jamie Wright was another key contributor, picking up 140 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Leading Granville to victory were Dante Varrasso and Beckett Long. Varrasso picked up 180 receiving yards and four touchdowns, while Long threw for 285 yards and five touchdowns while completing 77.3% of his passes. Cash Thomas made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Bexley's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Granville, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 11-0.
Bexley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Granville will be playing at home against Tri-Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Tri-Valley is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
