Despite the defeat, Gaston Day had strong showings from Dyson Britt, who posted 17 points, and Ben Chotkowski, who put up ten points and seven rebounds. Those 17 points gave Britt a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Hunter Gerould, who had four points.
Meanwhile, Westminster Catawba Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They received a blow as they fell 58-44 to Gaston Christian. The game marked the Indians' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
Gaston Day will have to keep a close watch on Brycen Redmon and MJ Littlejohn, a pair of players who had a big impact on Westminster Catawba Christian's prior game. Redmon went 6 of 13 on his way to 22 points, while Littlejohn posted eight points. The team also got some help courtesy of Miles Hayes, who put up two points.
Gaston Day's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 14-6. As for Westminster Catawba Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 7-12.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as both are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Gaston Day hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 68.5 points per game. However, it's not like Westminster Catawba Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 61.7 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
