Illini West has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Biggsville West Central Heat at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Thursday, Illini West was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 53-49 to the Ducks. Illini West has not had much luck with the Ducks recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Meanwhile, Biggsville West Central pushed their score all the way to 66 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Hamilton 72-66. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Wednesday (58), Biggsville West Central still had to take the loss.
Biggsville West Central might have lost, but man, Shelby Bowman was a machine: she scored 55 points along with six rebounds and three steals. That was a full 83.3% of Biggsville West Central's points, marking the 24th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Harlee Hainds, who scored seven points along with 12 rebounds.
Illini West has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 15-12 record this season. As for Biggsville West Central, their loss dropped their record down to 17-7.
