The Monmouth-Roseville Titans will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the Sherrard Tigers at 12:00 p.m. on February 6th. Hopefully Monmouth-Roseville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Friday.
Last Friday, Monmouth-Roseville was the victim of a tough 64-42 defeat at the hands of the Mustangs.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jake Steele, who scored eight points. Ayden Almaguer was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Sherrard came into Friday's matchup having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They enjoyed a cozy 55-41 victory over Erie-Prophetstown on Friday. Given Sherrard's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 187th, while the Panthers are ranked 587th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Monmouth-Roseville dropped their record down to 13-13 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Sherrard, their victory bumped their record up to 17-6.
Monmouth-Roseville came up short against the Tigers in their previous meeting back in January, falling 50-39. Can Monmouth-Roseville avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
