Tempe is 8-0 against Apache Junction since December of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Tempe Buffaloes just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the Apache Junction Prospectors at 7:00 p.m. on January 19th. Tempe is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
On Thursday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Tempe beat Vista Grande 57-52.
Tempe's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Arthur Murphy, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Nassir Cobbs, who scored 19 points.
Meanwhile, Apache Junction's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their sixth straight loss. They were outmatched by Cortez on the road and fell 62-20. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Apache Junction has scored all season.
Tempe's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-14. As for Apache Junction, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-14.
Tempe took their win against Apache Junction in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 by a conclusive 68-44. Does Tempe have another victory up their sleeve, or will Apache Junction turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
