Walton is 1-9 against Cherokee since December of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Walton Raiders will head out on the road to face off against the Cherokee Warriors at 6:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Walton scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Osborne 68-31 on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Walton has posted yet this season.
Walton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Graycen Ehlen led the charge by scoring 11 points along with three steals. Alice Zhang was another key contributor, scoring five points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Cherokee didn't have too much trouble with Wheeler on the road on Tuesday as they won 62-48. Given Cherokee's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 45th, while Wheeler is ranked 226th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Walton has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 9-11 record this season. As for Cherokee, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-6.
Walton might still be hurting after the 74-53 defeat they got from Cherokee in their previous matchup on January 9th. Can Walton avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
