After having lost a blowout in their  previous game against Scottsdale Christian Academy, The Scottsdale Preparatory Academy Spartans were happy to have found some success  on Friday. They managed a  17-13 victory over Shadow Mountain.
 The critical scores for Scottsdale Preparatory Academy came from  Elijah Saunders and  Alex Dobos.
 Several Matadors players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was   Tavares Allen, who gained 91 total yards and a touchdown.
 The team's defense also tried their best in the loss by  holding Scottsdale Preparatory Academy to a paltry 205 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Shadow Mountain's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out six times before it was all said and done. The heavy lifting was done by  Lucas Montfoort and  Alexander Soto who racked up five sacks between them.
 Scottsdale Preparatory Academy's win  bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Shadow Mountain, their defeat  dropped their record down to 4-6.
 Both  squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Scottsdale Preparatory Academy will  take on Valley Lutheran at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. Valley Lutheran comes in on a streak of failing to score more than seven points in their last four games, a trend the  squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Shadow Mountain, they will head out on the road to face off against Scottsdale Christian Academy at 7:00  p.m.  on Thursday. One thing working in Scottsdale Christian Academy's favor is that they have now posted big  point totals  in their last five games.
