The Hamilton Lions were the 49-43 winner over the Smithville Seminoles when they last played one another back in November of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Hamilton took a 49-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of Smithville on Thursday.
Smithville's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mikayla Wall, who scored 13 points along with six steals and five rebounds. Sophie Hass was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with seven rebounds.
Hamilton has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season. As for Smithville, their win ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-13.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hamilton will take on Mantachie at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mantachie is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. Smithville won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Aberdeen at 7:00 p.m. on January 12th. Aberdeen comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
