The Indian Creek Redskins will head out on the road to face off against the Carrollton Warriors at 6:45 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Indian Creek had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 33 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Beaver 63-16 at home. Given Indian Creek's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 127th, while Beaver is ranked 583rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Indian Creek got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was McKenna Scott out in front who scored 15 points along with eight steals. Scott has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylie Anderson, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and five steals.
Meanwhile, Carrollton scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They claimed a resounding 74-33 victory over Claymont on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Carrollton has posted yet this season.
Hillari Baker was her usual excellent self, scoring 24 points along with two steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. Kylie Ujcich was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with three steals.
Indian Creek's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-2. As for Carrollton, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-2 record this season.
Monday's matchup is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Indian Creek have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 41.9% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Carrollton struggles in that department as they've nailed 42.2% of their threes per game this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Indian Creek didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Carrollton in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, but they still walked away with a 55-51 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Carrollton's Lauren Marmo, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Now that she won't be playing on Monday, will it be that much easier for Indian Creek to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
