Hug hasn't had much luck against Truckee recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Hawks will head out on the road to square off against the Wolverines at 1:00 p.m. Hug has given up an average of 15.7 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Hug came up short against South Tahoe on Friday, falling 20-2. The Hawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Hug saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Daisy Torres, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, Truckee entered their tilt with Wooster on Monday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They put the hurt on the Colts with a sharp 20-4 victory. Considering the Wolverines have won five matches by more than eight runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Truckee got a massive performance out of Kaiya Rosario, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Rosario also put up a triple, which was her first of the season. Gwen Burns was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one double.
Truckee always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .857. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.
Hug's loss dropped their record down to 3-15. As for Truckee, the win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 5-8.
Wednesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Hug has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .608. However, it's not like Truckee struggles in that department as they've averaged .536. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Hug suffered a grim 20-2 defeat to Truckee in their previous meeting on April 5th. Can the Hawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
