The Birdville Hawks will head out on the road to face off against the Adams Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Last Friday, Birdville suffered a tough 42-18 loss at the hands of Richland. While losing is never fun, Birdville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 486th, while Richland is ranked 137th).
Meanwhile, after soaring to 62 points the game before, Adams were a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They had to suffer through a rough 57-7 loss at the hands of Newman Smith. Adams was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 50-7.
Despite the defeat, Adams got a solid performance out of Jacori Luckey, who rushed for 119 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries. Luckey is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played.
Even if they lost, Adams' defensive line sure didn't make it easy: Newman Smith's QB was sacked five times before it was all said and done. Newman Smith's QB won't forget Devin Jones anytime soon given Jones sacked him five times.
Birdville's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Adams, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 1-7.
Everything came up roses for Birdville against Adams in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 as the squad secured a 42-6 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Birdville since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
