The Wossman Wildcats entered their tilt with the Union Parish Farmers with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Wossman secured a 12-7 W over Union Parish on Friday. For Wossman, this counts as revenge for the 55-12 loss Union Parish walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2022.
Wossman can attribute much of their success to Tristen Wooten, who threw for 163 yards and two touchdowns while completing 78.3% of his passes. Eric Griffin and his 84 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Wossman's victory.
Despite the loss, Union Parish still got an impressive performance from Jy?marion Island, who rushed for 164 yards and a touchdown. Island is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last nine games he's played.
Wossman's victory was their fifth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 8-1. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-9 Mentorship Academy and 2-9 Bastrop (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 30.3% over those games). As for Union Parish, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-4.
Wossman will be playing in front of their home fans against Sterlington at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Sterlington will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak. As for Union Parish, they will head out on the road to face off against Carroll at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Carroll is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.
