The Northland Vikings gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 74-52 margin over Marion-Franklin. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to rack up seven more assists than your opponent, as Northland did.
Northland found their leader in underclassman King Kendrick, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 10 assists. Nehemiah McMorris was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Tito Glass and Jahmadre Love certainly did their best on Thursday to try and avoid the loss. Glass scored 13 points along with 8 rebounds, while Love scored 4 points along with 8 rebounds.
Northland's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Marion-Franklin, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
Northland will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Columbus International at 7:00 p.m. As for Marion-Franklin, they will head out on the road to face off against Bishop Watterson at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
