Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Southwick Regional). They put the hurt on Hampden Charter School of Science with a sharp 15-3 win on Friday. The Rams not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 17th (when they won 14-1).
Anna Novak made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, firing off two home runs, eight RBI, and two stolen bases while going 2-for-4. Those eight RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Khloe Lafogg was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Comee, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four stolen bases and one run.
Southwick Regional always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .659. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
