The Stargate School Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their eighth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 58-16 loss at the hands of Kent Denver. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Stargate School in their matchups with Kent Denver: they've now lost six in a row.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Stargate School struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only an offensive rebound. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Kent Denver pulled down 18 offensive rebounds.
It was another big night for Anya Peper, who scored 16 points along with seven steals for Kent Denver. Peper has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played. Another player making a difference was Austin Duncan, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Stargate School's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-11. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 13.5 points per game. As for Kent Denver, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-3.
Stargate School will be playing at home against Prospect Ridge Academy at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Stargate School comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 20 points in their last eight games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Kent Denver, they will head out on the road to challenge Forge Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Kent Denver focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Tuesday.
