Langtree Charter is on a four-game streak of home losses, Gray Stone Day a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. The Langtree Charter Lions will take on the Gray Stone Day Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Last Friday, Langtree Charter suffered a tough 63-41 loss at the hands of Bradford Prep. While losing is never fun, Langtree Charter can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 575th, while Bradford Prep is ranked 103rd).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Garrett Barbee, who scored 6 points along with 6 rebounds. Carlson Johnson was another key contributor, scoring 5 points.
Meanwhile, Gray Stone Day had to suffer through a rough 61-22 loss at the hands of North Moore. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Gray Stone Day in their matchups with North Moore: they've now lost six in a row.
Despite the loss, Gray Stone Day saw an underclassman step up: Colt Greer scored 8 points along with 11 rebounds.
Carolina International's victory bumped their season record to 0-0 while Langtree Charter's loss dropped theirs to 0-7.
Keep an eye on the arc in Monday's match: Langtree Charter have been dynamite from deep this season, having only made 33.6% of their threes per game. It's a different story for Gray Stone Day, though, as they've only made 3.4% of theirs this season. Given Langtree Charter's sizeable advantage in that area, Gray Stone Day will need to find a way to close that gap. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
Langtree Charter didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Gray Stone Day when the teams last played back in November of 2022, but they still walked away with a 51-45 win. Will Langtree Charter repeat their success, or does Gray Stone Day have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
