After only 25 points in their last match, the Swain County Maroon Devils made sure to put some points up on the board against the Nantahala Hawks on Wednesday. Swain County blew past Nantahala, posting a 64-32 victory on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Swain County has posted since December 8, 2023.
Despite the loss, Nantahala had strong showings from Zoey Passmore, who scored 16 points, and Delaney McLean, who scored 13 points.
Swain County's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-8. As for Nantahala, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Swain County's road trip will continue as they head out to face Franklin at 6:30 p.m. on January 19th. Franklin presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Swain County in North Carolina (Franklin is ranked 212th, while Swain County is ranked 434th). As for Nantahala, they will head out on the road to challenge Hayesville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hayesville has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 188 points over their last three games.
