The Winslow Bulldogs were the 53-49 winner over the Blue Ridge Yellow Jackets when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Winslow took a 52-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of Blue Ridge on Friday. While losing is never fun, Winslow can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 125th, while Blue Ridge is ranked 23rd).
Despite the loss, Winslow still got an impressive performance from Jauslyn Nells, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Nells has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Taylin Puhuhefvaya, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Winslow are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-11. As for Blue Ridge, they pushed their record up to 9-3 with that victory, which was their third straight at home.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Winslow will take on Monument Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Blue Ridge, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Round Valley at 6:00 p.m. on January 15th. Hopefully Round Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Saturday.
