Baseball Recap: Mesa Ridge Takes a Loss

Mesa Ridge was the 4-2 winner over Pueblo South when they last played one another back in March of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Grizzlies fell just short of the Colts by a score of 7-6 on Monday.

Brandon Bittner and Ozcar Walker did some serious damage despite the final result: Bittner scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Walker went 3-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double. Bittner has become a key player for Mesa Ridge: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 1-7 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabriel Montijo, who went 1-for-4 with one home run.

Mesa Ridge's defeat dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Pueblo South, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-3.

Mesa Ridge and Pueblo South will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Grizzlies are set to square off against their familiar foe Palmer at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Pueblo South will face off against rival Pueblo Central at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
