Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous four contest, Mercy brought some dynamite into their most recent match. They put the hurt on El Camino with a sharp 15-3 victory on Monday. Considering the Bears have won seven games by more than 11 runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Isabele Reburiano made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs.
In other batting news, Mercy let McKenna Fua and Aveline Anderson run wild. Fua got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three stolen bases, and four runs, while Anderson went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs Fua has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Kathleen Graupera, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Mercy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Mercy's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-12. As for Castilleja, their loss dropped their record down to 2-9.
Castilleja might still be hurting after the 19-5 defeat they got from Mercy in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Gators avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
