Bandys and Bunker Hill are an even 4-4 against one another since October of 2014, but not for long. The Bandys Trojans will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Bunker Hill Bears at 7:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Bandys fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They blew past West Caldwell 54-7 on the road. Given Bandys' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 150th, while West Caldwell is ranked 359th), the result on Thursday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Elliot Spicer was the offensive standout of the matchup as he rushed for 103 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries. Another player making a difference was Ian Moore, who rushed for 46 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Bunker Hill put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They claimed a resounding 48-21 win over Newton-Conover on the road. Bunker Hill pushed the score to 45-14 by the end of the third, a deficit Newton-Conover cut but never quite recovered from.
Jason Willis jr continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 192 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.7 yards per carry. Willis jr hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Xavier Mccleave, who picked up 138 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Bunker Hill's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB five times. The heavy lifting was done by Walter Mcgill and Anton Elliott who racked up four sacks between them.
Bandys' victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Bunker Hill, their win was their ninth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 9-0.
Bandys suffered a grim 37-14 defeat to Bunker Hill in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Will Bandys have more luck at home instead of on the road?
