Basketball Recap: Erie Snags Fifth Victory in Last Six Games

If Eureka wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Erie, they should've done a better job of containing Reid Duff. The Erie Red Devils took down the Eureka Tornadoes 55-39 on Monday which was due in part to Duff, who dropped a double-double with 26 points and ten boards. His big performance that evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points.

Despite the loss, Eureka still got an impressive performance from Laken Valentine, who posted 16 points. Those 16 points gave Valentine a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cole Ptacek, who had ten points.

Erie has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.0 points over those games. This is the second loss in a row for Eureka and nudges their season record down to 5-14.

Erie has already played their next game, a 60-51 loss against Iola on the 25th. As for Eureka, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 74-67 defeat against Pleasanton on the 27th.
