HCYA will head out on the road to square off against the Santa Fe Indians at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
HCYA barely beat Kinkaid the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. HCYA blew past Kinkaid 18-5 on Friday. The victory continues a trend for HCYA in their matchups with Kinkaid: they've now won five in a row.

Sarah Horne

03/05/24 @ Covenant Christian | 3 |

The team relied heavily on Sarah Horne, who fired off four home runs, 11 RBI, and one double while going 5-for-5. Those 11 RBI gave her a new career-high. Yanaia Scott was another key player, going 4-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI.
Horne wasn't the only one working in the hit department: HCYA kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in eight consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Santa Fe waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Pioneers as they made off with a 15-2 win. With that victory, the Indians brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.
Mallory Richardson made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
In other pitching news, Aubrey Withers looked comfortable as she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single walk, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in February.
Back at the plate, Santa Fe got a massive performance out of Madelyne Baulis, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Lexi Platt also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
HCYA's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-5-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Santa Fe, their record now sits at 12-10.
Friday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. HCYA hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .355. However, it's not like Santa Fe struggles in that department as they've averaged .333. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
HCYA came up short against Santa Fe in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, falling 9-5. Can HCYA avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
