Pleasant Valley is 8-2 against Foothill since January of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. Pleasant Valley took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They walked away with a 48-37 win over Red Bluff.
It was another big night for Keith Thompson, who went 8 for 13 en route to 18 points and six rebounds. Brody Moore also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.
Pleasant Valley was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Red Bluff only posted one assist.
Meanwhile, Foothill waltzed into their game on Tuesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They came out on top against the Hornets by a score of 52-45. The 52-point effort marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
Foothill's win came from a few key players Pleasant Valley will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Trace Farrelly, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten boards. Matt Poulsen was another key player, going 7 of 13 on his way to 18 points and six rebounds.
Pleasant Valley pushed their record up to 10-9 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.0 points per game. As for Foothill, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season.
Thursday's game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Thompson and Poulsen. Thompson has been dynamite this season: he has averaged 13.9 points, 1.4 steals, and 3.8 boards. For his part, Poulsen has averaged 15.4 points, 1.9 steals, and 2.9 rebounds.
Pleasant Valley strolled past Foothill in their previous matchup back in January of 2024 by a score of 78-63. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Foothill's Tyler Zanhiser, who went 9 for 14 en route to 23 points and five boards.
