The Leland Cubs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight loss. They took a 58-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Humphreys County. Leland has struggled against Humphreys County recently, as their match on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Humphreys County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jamurion Swan led the charge by scoring 15 points. Swan set a new season high mark in points with 15. The team also got some help courtesy of Dexter Williams, who scored 12 points.
Leland bumped their record down to 1-7 with that loss, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Humphreys County, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Leland is on the road again on Monday and play against Leflore County at 6:00 p.m. on December 11th. Leflore County is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Humphreys County, they will head out on the road to face off against Greenville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Greenville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Tuesday.
