Brunswick hasn't had much luck against Mentor recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Blue Devils will be playing at home against the Cardinals at 5:00 p.m. The last three games Brunswick has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
On Saturday, Brunswick didn't have quite enough to beat Berea-Midpark and fell 3-2.
Gabby Diligente spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Brunswick saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Abbey Nemec, who went 2-for-3 with one run.
Mentor came out on top against Perrysburg on Sunday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run sixth inning. The Cardinals walked away with an 8-5 win over the Yellow Jackets. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cardinals.
Allie Dugach made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits. Dugach was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ireland Rainey, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Gabi Dadante, who went 3-for-4 with two runs.
Mentor was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Mentor's victory bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Brunswick, their loss dropped their record down to 6-5.
Brunswick couldn't quite finish off Mentor when the teams last played back in May of 2025 and fell 2-0. Can the Blue Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
