St. Ignatius has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge The Mentor Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, it was close, but St. Ignatius sidestepped Clarkson N for a 24-21 victory.
Meanwhile, Mentor entered their tilt with Euclid with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Mentor claimed a resounding 48-12 victory over Euclid at home. The result was nothing new for Mentor, who have now won four games by 36 points or more so far this season.
Mentor's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Scotty Fox led the charge by throwing for 217 yards and four touchdowns while completing 78.9% of his passes. Mentor also got a significant boost from Gino Korzunowski, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 108 yards.
St. Ignatius' victory bumped their record up to 2-8. As for Mentor, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.
St. Ignatius came out on top in a nail-biter against Mentor in their previous meeting back in August, sneaking past 16-14. Will St. Ignatius repeat their success, or does Mentor have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
