The Celeste Blue Devils put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They strolled past Sulphur Bluff with points to spare, taking the game 40-21. Given Celeste's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 323rd, while Sulphur Bluff is ranked 1215th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Celeste to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kennedy Compton, who scored 10 points along with 6 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaia Rector, who scored 3 points along with 8 rebounds and 5 steals.
When it comes to explaining why Sulphur Bluff lost, one person who can't be blamed is Emma Neal. Despite the final result, she scored 10 points along with 5 rebounds and 5 steals. Neal scored a full 47.6% of Sulphur Bluff's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Celeste's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-0. As for Sulphur Bluff, they now have a losing record at 2-3.
Celeste will face off against Bonham at 1:50 p.m. on Friday. Sulphur Bluff will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Cumby at 4:30 p.m. on December 1st.
