It was a good run, but the Fleming Wildcats unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They took a hard 54-39 fall against Stratton. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Fleming of the 39-28 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2023.
Fleming's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ciana Lousberg, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and two steals. Lousberg also posted two blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Schaefer, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Fleming's loss dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Stratton, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fleming won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Prairie at 3:00 p.m. on January 13th. Prairie will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. As for Stratton, Stratton and Hi-Plains will face off at 4:00 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hi-Plains will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 149th, while Stratton is ranked 23rd).
