The Pottsville Crimson Tide were the 32-31 winner over the Shamokin Area Indians when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Pottsville fell 58-45 to Shamokin Area on Saturday.
Despite the loss, Pottsville saw an underclassman step up: Christian Alvarez scored 14 points. The matchup was Alvarez's tenth in a row with at least ten points. JuJu Bainbridge was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Pottsville's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Shamokin Area, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pottsville will take on Berks Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Berks Catholic's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five matchups. As for Shamokin Area, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Jersey Shore at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Jersey Shore comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
