Softball Recap: Wetumpka Snaps Eight-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

If Wetumpka was riding high fresh off their 15-0 takedown of Providence Christian last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Wetumpka Indians fell just short of the Chilton County Tigers by a score of 10-8 on Monday. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Indians, who until this game were averaging 4.07 runs allowed.

Bailey Carlise made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last 13 contests. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Brown, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Even though they lost, Wetumpka was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .350 or higher in four consecutive matches.

Wetumpka's loss ended an eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 24-4. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Chilton County, the victory was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-3-1.

Wetumpka is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.8 runs per game this season.
